Author Guidelines
JOURNAL ARTICLE WRITING GUIDELINES
Submitted articles must not have been published elsewhere and must not contain any elements of plagiarism. Each submission must be accompanied by written consent from the author(s).
Articles may be in the form of research findings, conceptual (independent) work, theoretical application, case reports, or book reviews. Articles may be written in either Indonesian or English and should be approximately 6,000 to 8,000 words in length, including references and tables. The manuscript must be typed using a computer on A4-sized paper with margins set to 4 cm on the top and left, and 3 cm on the right and bottom. The font must be Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Titles should be written in Indonesian (maximum 15 words) and English (maximum 13 words).
Articles must include the name(s) of the author(s). The order of multiple authors should be agreed upon by all contributors, usually based on their level of contribution. All authors share responsibility for the content of the article. Author names should be bolded using Times New Roman font, size 12 (refer to the journal template for examples). Author email addresses must also be included, written in Times New Roman size 12, without bold or italic formatting.
An ABSTRACT in English and an ABSTRAK in Indonesian must be included with each submission. The maximum word count for each is 200 words, presented in paragraph form and covering the research objective, methodology, and results. Both abstract sections must be surrounded by keywords (3 to 5 words). Use Times New Roman font, size 10, with single spacing. The English "ABSTRACT" should be written in bold italics, while the Indonesian "ABSTRAK" should be in regular font, not bolded or italicized.
The ABSTRACT (English) and ABSTRAK (Indonesian) content must be framed by keywords written in bold italics, in Times New Roman size 10, single-spaced. Each article must have 3 to 5 keywords.
The manuscript must consist of the following sections:
-
Introduction
-
Method
-
Results and Discussion
-
Conclusion
-
References
Section headings must be written in bold italics, Times New Roman font, size 12.
The Introduction must use Times New Roman size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. It should contain two main components: background of the research problem (including hypotheses if any), research objectives, and research methods. Literature reviews must not be a separate section but integrated into the introduction. References should be primary, relevant, and up-to-date. The scope of the literature review should be limited. Footnotes are not allowed as they can distract the reader. The Method section must clearly describe the research object and subject, and refer to standardized procedures where applicable.
The Results and Discussion section must also use 1.5 line spacing. It should include data or information aligned with the research objectives. Tables should be in a simple, open format, and images should be focused on the research subject. File sizes must not be too large or complicated (recommended format: .jpg). Tables and figures must be numbered consistently. The discussion should reflect the author's appreciation of the research findings and the study’s limitations. Quotations should be written in Times New Roman, size 11 (see the journal template for examples of tables and figures).
The Conclusion should be brief and include recommendations, which must be embedded in the conclusion (not presented as a separate section).
The References may include books, documents, theses, dissertations, newspapers, journals, and online sources. It is highly recommended to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, following the Harvard Anglia Ruskin University citation style.
Additional reference guidelines:
(a) Authors are required to cite at least 3 references from the Jurnal Ketahanan Nasional.
(b) References must be listed alphabetically, single-spaced, and unnumbered.
(c) Only references cited in the manuscript should appear in the reference list.
